After driving south for approximately 15 miles, guests of the Best Western Fireside Inn will find Morro Bay, a small seaside town known for Morro Rock, as well as the natural estuary which makes up a large part of the area. Morro Bay has been designated as a state and national bird sanctuary, and bird watchers flock to the area in large numbers. Because it is a reserve for the endangered Peregrine Falcon, there is no public access to Morro Rock.
Visitors to Morro Bay will want to check out the Embarcadero, which features a wide range of restaurants, as well as a number of parks. Outdoor activities available in Morro Bay include golf, fishing charters, whale watching tours, hiking, cycling and more.
For additional information about activities in Morro Bay, visit the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, or the Morro Bay Merchants Association.
